DarkHorse Digital Vault

Definition:

This is a hybrid of the remote and on-site systems. Acquisition of digital images in a DICOM3 format
happens on site (DR, CR, CT, MRI, US, etc.). Images are then transmitted to the DarkHorse hosting facility for secure backup. The DarkHorse Digital Vault serves as a backup for on-site images.

Requirements:

High-speed communications (DSL or better) between clinic and hosting facility (768
upload / 768 download Internet connection recommended) to back up the images.
High-speed communications within the clinic (intranet connection) are also needed to view the
images. Digital images must be DICOM3-compliant.

Advantages:

This gives you the advantages of both systems. Reliable image viewing, regardless of
Internet connectivity. No backup worries; all data is backed up automatically. All your
data is hosted in an encrypted, secure, backed-up environment. This also allows you
to access your images from any computer with an Internet connection, as well as
share your cases with referral veterinarians and/or owners over the Web site, should the on-site system
fail. DarkHorse Digital Vault includes the ability to send your images through the
DarkHorse Telemedicine platform to board certified specialists at the click of a button.

Disadvantages:

If your network connection is down, you will not be able to automatically back up
your data. However, backup of data is available as soon as connection becomes available
again. |
