Definition:

This option is the most comprehensive solution for archiving your digital images. You provide a high-speed Internet connection and Antech Imaging Services takes care of everything else.

Requirements:

High-speed communications (DSL or better) between clinic and hosting facility (768 upload / 768 download recommended). Digital images must be DICOM3-compliant.

Advantages:

No purchase of an expensive server required, meaning that you do not have the upkeep, backup worries, disk space concerns and IT headaches associated with owning a large server. No expensive PC-based viewing software is needed. All your data is hosted in an encrypted, secure environment with backup capabilities. This also allows you to access your images from any computer with an Internet connection, as well as share your cases with referral veterinarians and/or owners through the Antech Imaging Services Web site. With the Antech Imaging Services Remote PACS system, you have the ability to connect several clinics together, so that everyone in the group has access to the images. The Antech Imaging Services Remote PACS system includes the ability to send your images to board certified specialists through the Antech Imaging Services platform with the click of a button.

Disadvantages:

If your network connection has frequent outages, you would be unable to send exams to the hosting facility or view old exams. Typically, only a few weeks to a few months are stored on site with the remote model; however, they are always available online, as long as the network connection is working.
